Dyson DC41 Cyclone catch?
« on: July 06, 2015, 11:27:33 pm »
Hi, I need this spare part for my DC41, the little catch to release the cyclone. Mine broke when I lifted it from the cyclone handle which is weird? Really?!?!?! IT's either cracked from ages ago or just crap. Anyways I love the vacuum, really powerful and want to make it optimised. The catch is getting annoying. Cheers

I've got two like that at the moment and have needed to replace the same bit on a previous refurb I've done.

Sadly I think it's a common problem and there's going to be plenty more like that  :'(

It's horrible, seems like the weakest part of the machine. The DC40 has a much stronger cyclone catch than this, oddly. Unfortunately the design on that is different. I'm calling Dyson today to see what they will do

That part does not come on its own yet. It probably will later in the year.  ;)

Can you show me the bottom half of that clip please? We broke some of these today and there are two types, and also the first three digits from the serial number?

The first 3 digits of the serial Number are DA7. May I see a pic or two on the differences between the 2 clips? I would be interested.Dyson are sending me a new cyclone under guarantee too.

Your one with the rod out of shot is the early one then, the later one has a longer rod on the piece it attaches to, and no rod on the upper clip. Yours is an early one I think, and the other type later. See what they send you so we all know which is which. The minutiae of these is still a learning curve for everyone really. We have been taking different cyclones to bits today to see what fits (or doesn't fit) what.

These clips differ on the DC33, DC40, DC41 and DC50. All break, but the DC41 breaks more. But - for other people - they will be available as a part in the not too distant future. Cov link assemblies and a few other bits will also come more available as the parts are released more.

Cool, that's good to know :) I got a bit pissed off cos I just came home from collecting the Dyson from the seller's house, opened up the boot of the car, picked it up from the cyclone handle and the red clip snapped off! Crap thing. Yes you're correct my DC41 is an early model I discovered today, found out it was purchased at Currys on 13th February 2012, DC41 came out a few months prior to that. When I get my new cyclone assembly I'll let you know about what clip it has. I think the clips are find on the DC33 and DC40, my DC40 has been abused but the clip has been fine. My neighbour's DC33 is almost 3 years old, gets used a lot and abused a lot and the clip is good on that too.

My DC40 clip feels stronger, the plastic feels much thicker. I don't know if it's the later model or early model, but the serial number is DN5 XXXXXX...  multi floor complete.

I have seen many DC41's with this clip issue as well as the yolk assembly breaking, shame really for a £409 machine. I'm glad they improved the DC41 with the new Mk2 and the cinetic big ball though ;D I just hope the yolk assembly wont break on my 41

What do you reckon they improved? I have yet to see a list of differences between the MK1 and MK2 DC41. If you know of them, please make a topic on it. All the ones I have seen look the same.

And the Cinetic Big Ball (DC75), well, what can I say? Having looked at them, I'll still recommend a DC14 over one any day of the week.

My new cyclone arrived today (they were out of stock) and it's the later type with the rod in the cyclone part instead of the clip :) seems sturdy but time will tell if this breaks again

I've had both the dc14 and dc75 and the dc75 blows all old Dysons at the water.
