Agitator Bar Housing removal DC17

 I changed the main motor and am having a hard time getting the housing back on.  The beater bar housing is in the way. It looks like the clear plastic part of the head pivots on the ends of the assembly -snap out? I don't want to break any tabs off trying to get it off
