I think ill try,  will certsinly loop the wires,  theres just enough length on the coil ones! Will do it when I get a new cable for it,  need to reposition the outer guard too as its too high but will save that for another day,  as the cable i want is quite expensive!

Hi beko: Before buying on eBay, you might want to take a look at WWW.sinolec.co.UK they can supply a lot of different cloth covered flexes. Prices look pretty good too.

Yesterday afternoon, I ran the old girl round upstairs, and emptied my DC01 Absolute+ in the process...

Worked very well, it does need a MUCH longer cable on it though, but at least it's safe for now!

The bag needed emptying though

Then a quick vacuum off

Much better!

I then spent 20 minutes buffing the wax off that I applied the previous day

Lovely! I was up in the loft last night (forgot to put this up there too...) and had a look at my other 119. The paintworks not as good as this one tbh, but it does need a full refurb tbh. And since it has it's original bag, toolkit and all the paperwoek, even the receipt, it probably will get it's turn on a refurb! It too needs a new cable as it's still the original, and it's very crazed all over, need to have a proper look at it and make the call!

Either way, job jobbed for now! Thanks for selling it to me Mvacs! Hope you get more old chod through your doors!

Will have a look at that, cheers! Ideally I would like at least brown, will see how rich I feel at the time!

No probs, unfortunately I've used up the roll I had & don't use enough of it to buy another. Now if it was Black rubber covered I go through loads of that & the cheapest place to buy it is TLC.  Do you have any other restorers close to you ? You should get the flex a bit cheaper  if you did a bulk buy between you.

If you want it, I would.  Would feel bad about the cable though,  it does let it down but ultimatly stops you possibly being killed...

The box it came in is still in the shed too...

The original plug for that 119 would have been the adjustable 2 pin 'HOOVER' round rubber one. The one that was also supplied with an adaptor to plug into the light bulb socket so you could just remove the lightbulb in a room and plug the vac in !!!!!! oh the good old days.

I have one of those for my other 119. Did try to fit it a few years back but didn't. Even made up a 3 pin plug to light pendant lead so I didnt have to plug it into the ceiling. Couldn't work out which way the pins went for L and N so gave up.

Which goes with this one, which is sadly not in as good condition as Mvacss old one

Does have this though

and these

Must get it down and give it the same treatment as the other 119, it's been fettled but not stripped and overhauled to the same level of detail! Will be VERY careful washing the bag though, its bloody rare nowadays!

wires connect either way because the plug can fit into the adaptor or 2 pin wall socket either way and then also the light bulb adaptor can fit in either way into the light fitting, so there's no way to ensure L-L N-N .
Even to this day though quite a few vac manufacturers have live and neutral reversed so a single pole switch is switching just the neutral.
