Bit of help / advice anyone?

DC25 Animal 6 years old, intermittent brushbar fault - keeps cutting out for a few seconds and stops spinning - then starts again while in use.

I have a spare brush bar so I have swapped them to test if the fault is in the brushbar head, still the same.

I guess some switch / connection problem - any ideas?

Hi: May well be a faulty Yoke loom assembly, if you look in the pinned section you'll find plenty of good info by Dyson tech & beko1987 on how to check & replace it.
Manchester vacs sell the replacement loom at good prices.

Your welcome. If you can't physically see damage to the loom, please ensure you check it with a multimeter before replacement.
Also using it like this can cause the PCB to blow.

Thanks again, I have looked on the link for the part it's only £4 odd + PP, I have ordered one already, I thought once I had it in pieces give the price I may as well just change it, then if it does not solve it, I know it wont be that.

If it's not the loom (which hopefully it is) it may be the brushtoll motor. I had one that did that and it was the motor.

To check, you need to remove the top cover of the brushroll housing (iirc the screws towards the back of the unit), plug it back into the machine, although it wont click in so make sure it's in properly, then run the machine. You can now see through the see through housing and if you see sparks then you know. I did a thread on it in the early ball section with a video to show the issue. One or 2 of the comm segments had gone, so it ran fine until it caught the dead segments

Thanks for that B, I have a spare old brush bar that I have tried still does the same, not 100% but unlikely that both brushbars could have same issue, what do you think?

Sounds promising then, I'd say the yolk loom is on the way.

If you have the appropriate size crimps, or even twist some new wire around the terminals and insulate you could bypass the loom temporarily and test?

Thanks chaps for your advice - spot on, part arrived today, just done it after work, bit tricky worst part un hooking wires, but managed it, red wire broken on yoke. Thanks again much appreciated. Dave
