Well, its here!

The motor has done a dc24, Im hoping theres something stuck in the fan.
The hose is torn, alot!
Brushroll looks a bit worn
It seems reluctant to stand up.

Plus side, it has the tangle free turbo tool!
It looks very clean
It was £5.50!

Because when I picked it up, and turned it on, it sounded EXACTLY like this

and I've had a few DC24s sound like that!

However, it is quite complete!

Sticker on the brushroll needs removing

The brushroll *may* need replacing

and, it turns out it's missing its pre motor filter. This explains alot tbh, and means I cannot just 'bloody dyson' it when I refurb it, as I've seen Miele's and others killed by this/lack of bag.

which has made the post filter into a bit of a state!

I'm hoping this comes up ok with a good vac off and a good wash...

So, I had a look at the motor yesterday. This isn't a guide, I'll do a proper rebuild thread in time, this was just repair!

These worried the hell of me until I realised they screwed in and I didnt need to remove them...

Mmmm, that looks like a dc24 motor...

Took the tco off the 24 motor

The 50 motor looks like it's beginning to get ill

BUT the 24 motor wont fit, as the carbom holders are wider, and it fouls the casing

Better see if the 50 motor can be rescued then

Scraped the worse out

Then into here for 2 hours for the rest

Cleaned the rest of the fan out with a brush

Had to do THIS to get to just this bit!

Much better! (after sticking it on the hob for 2 minutes to dry...)

50 on the left, 24 on the right

Gave everything a brush off and lobbed it back together

Annnnnndddddd.....

God yes! The handle flexes a good way before the machine catches up! If my car steered like that id be very worries!

If you angle it too far the wheel turns as it contacts the carpet higher up, so it buggars off at a sharp angle alot too

Does still work surprisingly well though, even with a worn smooth brushroll. Think the beating action lifts stuff up enough to get it into the airflow. Not too fussed about the lack of filter for now, will re wash the fan when i get one.

I didnt really like the DC50 much, now after seeing this it looks cute

I like my DC41 and this is the mini version lol, in your video when you reclined it, the combination of the active base plate sealing in the suction and lifting up the rug to the "bumpy" surface of the brushbar looks like it produced a good beating action!

I cant wait to try my cousins DC50 2015 model when we go next time, he asked me to have a look at it because even though he got it new a few weeks ago, he says it's too powerful on his rugs. He says it's quite strange to use but its a wicked vacuum, he likes it. He had a Henry which is about 7 years old now I think, so the solid durable Henry vs a DC50 is a big difference! Although he says the DC50 cleans better

Didn't the original Hoovers do a very similar job

So, Tayyab's continual Dyson warranty shenanigans has got me thinking about the DC50

Would I get rumbled if I called Dyson out to fix a machine that has a worn brushroll, dead motor, very torn hose and no filter? Can't exactly say 'it was fine one day then I went to use it the next and...'

Would save me a fortune if I did!

buy a filter use it then call them, " its not cleaning like it used to, and the hose has split"

Or " its not cleaning like it used to so I washed the filter and a friends puppy ate it, oh and the hose split when I was doing the stairs" worst case is you pay for a filter. Our dog at our dc04 filter years ago.
