PS Are you sure the oscillating tips are rubber? I thought that aswell byut Dyson said they used a special material which they wont reveal to make them

They are some kind or rubber. Think like a thick marigold kitchen glove type of material.

Are the cinetic tips really flexible or quite stiff. Were any clogged up?

Very flexible, and none were clogged up.

Would they shaft you over if they came round on a warranty shout and saw the plaster dust though?

We discussed that today. They might call plaster dust commercial waste as a building material. As a domestic machine, I guess they could void the warranty on that. If they do in practice, I don't know.

I cant see people being very happy with a machine that costs so much and last for such a short time.

A cynic might suggest you could say the same of anything after the DC33 and all hand-helds. But people are buying them. At the money they are, they can afford to suck up some warranty claims.

I abused a dc02 years ago steipping paint,  skimming and sanding plaster and other general decorating shiz for a solid week.  Yes the filters were ruined,  and tbh the motor was a tad peaky but it worked,  being filled to the overflowing line,  I even chopped out that yellow diverter to stop it clogging.

Quick refurb when done,  and new filters and she was back into daily duties upstairs again.

Would like to do that with a cinetic one day when their going through their disposable stage.  The only reason i dont feel bad about that dc02 is it was green with fade.  Still got the motor tools and cyclone bits in the shed though...

It clearly states right on the front of the manual and on the machine do not suck up plaster dust and actually these machines are absolutely fantastic Four filtering out everything but not plaster dust that ruins anything, and when cnet did a review on the kinetic upright to see if the never loses suction was true they use drywall which is the same texture a flower and it did very well, Dyson finally learn from their mistakes from the old DC41 dc40 which were prone to multiple problems and I think they the current generation all the ones they sell at the moment canal last just as long or even longer than the old models and of course you're going to get some in for repair due to someone being bit dumb.

I also forgot to say that the kinetics can handle bit of plaster dust but not up to the max line say you're just running in the water putting shelves up can handle that amount just fine.

I recently took one apart that I bought used (thanks for the good instructions btw), because the cylinder and cyclone were covered in fine white dust, which required washing to be removed. Probably plaster dust or similar. I wanted to make sure it was all cleaned out before further use. Luckily, the inside of the motor looked fine and not much dust in the outwards filter, which either means the cyclone is indeed very efficient or the HEPA filter is not very HE.

Nevertheless, since I will be using that in my workshop, for caution I decided to put a pre-filter in, which is not very difficult. I used a disc from a polishing pad for parquet floors, which is quite coarse grain (see picture against the light) but still keeps a lot of stuff out. Cheap and easily washed or replaced.

The joint between the cylinder and the body entry is flexible, so squeezing the pad in between works fine, suction on the business end does not feel any lower than before and the motor does not sound any different either. So it does not seem to block the air flow too much

Otherwise, I am happy with the Dyson, it does a great job.
