Blown motor
« on: September 03, 2015, 02:39:06 am »
Found this when I stripped down a DC24 from eBay. Bits of plastic and a screw fell out of the motor. The fan shroud was dented where the screw had been spinning around before jamming the motor and failing. It was a Panasonic motor.

Can't get the photo to upload.

The main motors on DC24's are not terribly long lived compared to some others.

We repair a lot of "eBay bargains" that conk out a few days after arrival.

If you need a new one, we have them >>here<< in case of need.

Knackered motor.
Correction to previous post. - The motor was a YDK. I replaced it with a Panasonic from a doner DC24. Working but a bit of a screamer.

I bought it of eBay advertised as faulty. Switched it on and it went bang and blew the fuses in the house It looks as if it has been used without the top filter.

Kiddies - I've had quite a few Dysons where they've been bought in and said my little one put x,y,z down the pipe and the motor started smelling  :'(

2 screws lots of paper and bits of plastic were in the motor. Easy for a child to open the top and use it as a toy box.
