Hi. My DC07 cuts out randomly. Can anyone shed some light on why?

What do your filters look like? Is the machine picking up ok?

Can you be more specific? Is it cutting out and then wont work for 20-30 mins?

It runs for about 2/3 mins then cuts out. I've checked filters/pipes for blockages, the cylinder for air flow. I think it is getting too hot. Just no evidence of why!

Cuts out after 2/3 mins. Then will restart after 2/3 mins. It must be an overheating issue, but there's no evidence as to why!

Sounds like your carbon brushes may be breaking down, or the thermal cutout is bad.

Unless your filters havent been checked/changed since eternity. Does it stop overheating if you take out both filters and turn it on? If not, you'll probably need to get the motor out to have a look at it. Does it sound ok for the brief time it runs? Does it sound different with the cyclone unit off vs on? Does it sound different with the cyclone on, but the filters in/out too?

There's a few guides on where the filters are and how to get the motor out on them on the main forum!

Which model do you have? If its a DC07, the cyclones might be blocked and cause overheating

How would I remove the outer cover to check the cyclones?
I've tried before and I'm not strong enough: but I could be doing it wrong!

Take off the top handle and look inside, instructions here and again half way down the page here.

Here is one badly blocked.

You need to pull quite hard,  theres a rubber seal that hangd in there.

Possibly best to do it outside too,  unless you have another vacuum cleaner handy!
