« on: September 16, 2015, 09:31:02 am »
I put some flood lights up yesterday, the internals were crimped with this kind of connector, 3 of them fell of when I touched them  :o  I replaced every one in every light with chocky blocks.

Chinese ?. All the floodlights I've installed have had chock blocks already for the wiring connections. But I've had Chinese electrical fittings in the past where they've popped off, especially ceiling fans. Were they crimps or scruits ?.

Not done any for a couple of years, but you used to still be able to get British made.

Apparently Carbon8 & Dextra still manufacture in the UK along with several others.

I got 2 10w units for £17 and a 20w PIR for £20  Much better than halogen, up the ladder every few months to change a bulb your not supposed to touch  :D

If I hadn't been replacing the supply wire for a neater installation I think the crimps would still have been OK in years to come, not as if they get moved during use. 2 more to do but ran out of funds  :'(
