I used to volunteer for a local charity, selling electrical items is a minefield and the regs are shell we say "interpretable"   so most will just play safe and not sell anything that's not been pat tested or doesn't work.  The fines for 1 item could sink a charity.

There's a mini scrapyard at the end of my road and they had a DC01, DC08, DC07 and a DC18 there. Asked the guy for the DC18 and he said no. They were suffering in the heatwaves, snow and rain, then everything disappeared!

if i was you i wouldn't even ask, just bloody take it and save it from the bin.

Over here that's classed as theft, same as taking stuff out of a roadside skip. No permission don't do it.
Yeah you're right you should ask

Everyone: wouldn't you've thought they give away home electoral device's that people can afford to replace.  say for example someone had a crappy tesco value hoover but they can afford a dyson. Mind you there is not many people who knows how to service the inside of electronics goods

If they donated Electrical appliances such as Vacuum cleaners to low income families it would be something, there's an awful lot of people that can't afford them.
I used to run a Council Electrical Recycling centre, when it started off the idea was to recycle appliances for low income families. But they quickly realised it could be a good money spinner, they were getting stuff from the tip & doing minor repairs / cleaning and then trying to punt it out for silly money. They were advertising DC07's for £80-90 & washing machines for £100.

Unfortunately the all powerful none elected health a safety executive would still require it to be tested, and that becomes expensive.  >:(

I offered to do the PAT testing for a local charity, 1 day a week FOC. The shop is only a short distance from us & I'd have been happy to do it for them but no they're just not interested, but my missus has just come in & told me they've got a keyboard & PlayStation up for sale.
