Opinions on the Dyson DC15?
« on: October 08, 2015, 08:24:18 pm »
https://www.gumtree.com/p/vacuum-cleaners/dyson-dc15-animal-the-ball-upright-hoover-vacuum-cleaner/1136635735

Kind of tempted with this, never used a DC15, the closest I have had was the DC14 and DC25/24 and DC40/DC41 models. Do they clean better than DC25's or DC41's?
-Do they use the same motor as the 25?
-Anything I should look out for?
-Is the brushbar more powerful and stiffer on the DC25 or this? I have a REALLY mint DC07 in red and silver with all 3 tools which I might get rid of for this, if I feel like it.
Thanks ;D

They are quite heavy but from what I can tell they are quite good.  PCB and motor's look a bit pricey  :o

The brushroll motors are quite reliable. Similar one to the DC18.

Yes they are heavy and can be a swine to fix if you are not familiar with them, but get a good one and it will be a good machine. We had one at home for about three years when they first came out.  :icon_nod:

The only thing that used to blight them from a refurb point of view was that upper cord winders (that break) and wand collars (that wear down) were never available. But we now do both of those parts.  8)

We still sell the odd DC15. But the bits can be expensive so they are not terribly cheap.

Lol I agree kind of aswell, the dc25 is more tidier in design, but the 41 looks very tidy

They are slightly nicer looking machines. To be honest though, I can't say I like the look of any modern Dyson upright.   :evilgrin0002:

I'm not a huge fan of the 15. It's bulky, heavy and clunky. They do perform well, and arent too bad to componentise and refurb, but I'm not a fan I'm afraid!

Cool, interesting opinions from everyone!
Do they use the same motor as a DC25 if anyone knows? Also, whats the performance like against one?
