Hello All, Dyson DC25 All Floors
« on: November 04, 2015, 10:21:45 pm »
Hello Everyone,

I am am new to the Forum so a massive HELLO!

I have a Dyson DC25 All Floors and the Brush head motor had stopped working. My wife was using it, and suddenly the head sparked and blew the trip switch in my consumer box.
So I bought a new Brush Head and fitted it only to find it still not worked.
I searched the internet and found that the Yoke wiring breaks.
I took apart my Dyson and found that this had happened due to rubbing. I temporary insulation taped the wire and put back on my new head but it is still not working.

Has anybody out there got any suggestions as what else could have gone wrong,
Before I give in a buy a new one which I cannot afford!

I do not really want to chuck it because everyone else fixes them.

any help would really be appreciated.

Regards

BlueToaster

Welcome buddy, in my personal experience if you've changed the head and the wireing it will be the brush bar switch assuming you you bought a new head and not a duff second hand one

The wireing hasn't been changed, just had a temporary repair with some insulation tape.

Didn't see this part, then a multimeter is you best friend

I bodged a dc15 yolk together for a customer who was moving house judt to keep him going,  it took 3 attempts to get it right,  the wires are so thin,  then get bent and flexed all the time.  It may look good,  but it can break again without you knowing.

Yes, there will be another break in the copper wire, even if the sheathing is intact. Change the loom, since it's not an expensive part.

As above, check for continuity with a multimeter to be sure.
Only other possibility is the reset switch on these, so get one in anyway at the same time, as they tend to fail eventually anyway.
