Thanks but I think I already have another full machine on the way. It should be here in two weeks.
The third Fantom arrived yesterday from the US of A, brought back by a chap on the plane. All complete, unbroken and with all the bits we need on there. So we now have three of these from which we will make two minters.
So today we started stripping the first one down..........
Down to the motor........
And a few bits TFR'd and pressure washed to make a start.......
Observations up to now: Original build quality is alright but not fabulous. Tech is pretty basic and typical of the era
(like a blend of 80's vintage Hoover/Electrolux and a Rotork/DC01). More fiddly to take apart than a similar era Dyson. Some Dyson/Rotork influences in there, but not terribly obvious unless pointed out and/or you know the history. Wooden brushroll. Small motor like a DC03.
The black plastic has some deep scratches in, and being black, is quite challenging to buff out or disguise as black shows every mark (like cars). These are going to need a good wax polish.
Anyone know what onboard tools they had? We have no tools.......
More news as it happens...........
