Hi,

I have a DC55 with a brush roll that wont go around. I believe its the same as the DC41 2nd generation.

I've checked the power to the terminals with the brush head removed and there was nothing. Not 100% sure if the multimeter terminals were making contact though. Is there a common problem with these I should be aware of before I delve right in and strip it down ?

It *might* be he wire loom as this was a common issue with the DC41's, so must be similar. The wires would break inside the machine so it would be worth checking that first before buying anything. A multimeter would be handy to see if the wire is maybe broken internally.

Hi Brett: If your in the UK there should be 230v A/C at the pins with the cleaner head removed. Is there a cut out on it & have you reset it first ?

I think it's DC because there's only the motor in the cleaner head and the PCB is in the ball

If it is a dc55 it will be under gtee. Ring them up and get them to book an engineer. And then proceed to tell them if it is over (insert time frame) you will give them negative publicity on social media. I told a mate of mine this and it worked.

I had multimeter set on AC, so it converts to DC in the ball, that might be why. At least when I start trying to fix it I can rule out the brush head. I hope its the brush head, as I've stripped a DC41 2nd generation down before and it looked complicated and I believe they are the same. Customer said she couldn't find receipt for guarantee, so said go ahead and fix it.

Wait, she doesn't need the receipt mostly, but just incase.
I have my DC41 guarantee with no receipt :) Just ask her where she bought it from and when, Dyson should accept that as it's proof of purchase

Just tested it and there is about 300 VDC coming from the terminals which connect to the head. So its a new Brush head I need. I cant see anywhere that sells just the motors for these.

shocking as the DC55 has only came out less than 12 months ago!
PS it's not a normal DC25/41 motor, these have 20% more brush power than the older models so the brushbar might spin slower or something, be similar to an older style DC40 probs as these both have 1 row of bristles, so won't agitate as much is should

What are the numbers on the motor?
