How do you clean vacuums?
« on: February 10, 2016, 10:22:33 pm »
Hi vacuum cleaners (pun intended)  ;D

Just wondering, how do you guys refurb your vacuums? I use washing up liquid with a spare toothbrush, a larger and stiffer bathroom type brush and  just wash them all in the sink. When all parts are dry I hairspray the bin, spray the vac with Dettol disinfectant spray to kill bacteria, wipe the cable with Dettol wipes till nothing comes off anymore (also good to do this after vacuuming cars out), spray with polish and give it a hand polish then the vac is done!

I also get magic erasor for white paint marks and spray with polish in those areas where I used the magic erasor

I had a lot of passion for my DC33 cyclone today for some reason and decided to use bleach and really clean it well (came up good) but sometimes I want to mix two types of bleach together because sometimes bleach doesn't seem powerful enough   :duh: :boggleeye:

G101 and a selection of car detailing brushes for the wash
Cif (asda own I find is better)  for removing paint,  carbon dust and a general first stage polish
The rotary,  spot pads and polish for the proper shineup
Whatever pot of wax happens to be on the shelf for the finish!

I use the sink and industrial soap, boiling water.

I don't very often strip down my own one, only ones I'm selling lol... Got to make them look good ;)

I always put paying jobs before my own collection, which can be annoying sometimes if I have one in bits, then get a job!
