To all members who spent time to assist me --
My face is red.
Before taking it to a local shop, called the Dyson help line in Illinois, USA. once more.
The customer service rep who took the call (a young woman, from her voice). Took me through the steps of what I did and identified the problem.
I had not correctly fitted the wand and hose before attaching the crevice tool. Followed her instructions and the crevice tool roared back to life.
