OMG

First dc41 I have got my hands on (minus power head)

How did something this bad get past the design stage? All that weight at the bottom of a spine that seams to be made of washing up bowl plastic, I've seen £30 vacuums built better, and they charged £300+ for this

Is there a strip down guide? I have got the post motor filter out and I now have no idea where to start on the thing

I'm not surprised the motor burnt out on this thing

No button of course

And the top gasket is well and truly fooked !

It's a crap design I agree! Another fault is that the suction comes from the bottom. When the vacuum is emptied, the bottom gasket gets dusty and when you close the bin, a poof of dust goes on the other side of the filer and when the machine gets turned on, that dust goes to the motor, the motor is probably very dusty :|

I hope mine blows up before the warranty expires in a year, that way they will have to replace mine with a new 700W model!

We never really use it anymore, our DC14 kicks its ass any day even with the original used brush and clutch! The 41 had like 10 new parts haha

The only thing I like about the DC41 is the colour, looks, the big brush on the crevice tool and the lightweightness of the wand. Only keeping mine atm cos it's modern and worth a lot! Not sure if I am better off selling it though with the cracked spine not affecting anything :/

I would say the best Dyson ball is the DC25 :) Sturdy, durable, powerful and easy to repair and diagnose. I am so glad we got our DC25 brand new instead of a DC41 (we got it new in November 2011, when the DC41 was the latest one just launched) and have not regretted the purchase :) Worked really well in our house

Hold on, that looks like the later cyclone with the plastic rod part of the cyclone instead of the button, reminds me that mine is also wearing out because I noticed the plastic wearing out, changing colour with stress which is crap. I mean, why change something that worked perfectly before? (the DC14 and DC25 cyclone catches were flawless)

PS there's a youtube channel where a guy briefly explains and demonstrates how to repair Dysons, he did a DC50 strip down which is the closest, helped me when I had my DC40 in bits https://www.youtube.com/user/AllVacuumBrandsCTN1

The quality of "what's left" of the emptying catch is appalling, I've seen things in kinda eggs made of better stuff.

And those cadbury mini easter egg spoon things (like he purple one u found in a white DC07 soleplate) is better plastic than the red plastic on the ball hose and on the cyclone catch and that's no joke

One small bend and it snaps, like a badly faded DC03 or a Dc03 clear

that is laughable, but doesn't surprise me after I got my DC50 which looks like the same crap just in a smaller package! It's why I'm reluctant to spend any actual money on it for now!

I'm just so glad this fixed all these problems with the current generation :) more sturdy and reliable especially the kinetic big ball, 1 thing is to remember the plastic does feels flimsy and cheaper then it actually is even if you tried to break them you couldn't,I think Dyson rush the first generation of DC41 so many problems, and don't forget the dc25 did have quite a lot of problems as well Parwaz .

I played with the DC50 the other week in currys, it was quite cute and I liked it a bit better than the 24. I dont know if the brushbar motornia reliable though because it is extremely tiny, but I have heard no problems yet. Dc40 brush motors fail a lot cos they are the same as the DC24 one, not sure why it doesn't use a DC25/41 brushbar motor. I think the 2015 models all use the same one?
