Dyson DC41 Update - New Motor Needed
« on: December 25, 2015, 11:49:55 pm »
So it burnt out today  ;D :D

It's only had a few blockages (we vacuum a lot in our house- once or twice daily, sometimes even 3X) and I think a bit of paper got in the motor from the inlet tube when I removed the bin. Also, damn the stupid bottom suction design. Gonna mention to the engineer that if the motors dusty its cos the bottom seal gets really dusty when emptied, they have to sort it out or there will be more motor failures and smelly filters in the cinetic

Yup. Horrible thing

PS it started to blow the fuses in the plug now, every time. Why is this? I never seen a burnt out vacuum with a burnt out fuse before. Every DC07/14 I get has perfect fuses when burnt out too.

A new DC41 motor for the Dyson guy to fit then. Good job you inherited that warranty.

Now you see why we don't sell these machines refurbed? They are a bag of trouble and worth more in bits than in one piece.

Lol thanks! :) I am going to transfer warranties all the time now, very glad I did it. Also, I totally agree with you 100% Dyson has made the wrong choice making this tidy ball crap

I am so glad we own a DC14, it's a powerhouse

Two Dyson engineers came yesterday (Other guy was getting training I believe, as the other engineer that came last time was showing him how to test the output voltage from the cleaner head (He never took anything off, he shoved the multi meter thing underneath the vacuum, on the screws maybe?  :/

He tried it out (fitted new fuse, plugged in and DC41 went  humming away) He said it's definitely the motor and he will come back next week   as he needs to order the motor.

Then... ;D as I was putting the 41 back into the cellar, he spotted my Dc01 and was very surprised to see it, said he never seen one in ages and seemed genuinely interested! ;D I told him I collect (and restored this myself) and want to work at Dyson one day. He will teach me how to fit a DC41 motor next week :king: He is a very nice guy  Really happy lol
