DC25 brushroll not spinning on carpet

Hi am getting a Dc25 anmal in for repair in the next week and  the roller will run off carpet but not on carpet.  It isnt the loom as it runs regardless of handle position. I have a spare cleaner head to try(working). Anyone got any ideas??

Motor could be on its way out, extra power needed to turn it on carpet just not there. Check the belt first.

I am having this exact same problem with mine.  I would be interested to know what ends up being the fix before I go buying a whole new brushbar head (for the new motor).
