DC25 brushbar problem

All easy to fix, but inspect the pedal and its attachments carefully before you order parts, easy to miss a bit you need.

well it looks like the parts are there just can't see where the spring has to go, I'm sure is the one to pull the red pedal up when you locking the hoover in upright position

Ah, maybe check it's not an easy fix. Look up my refurb thread, it will show you but there's a tiny spring inside one end of the red pedal, and a big chunky spring from one end of the grey wheels part to the side of the ball area.

The red pedal doesnt really move, it's the grey pedal, when you push the red pedal down to recline the machine, it enters the right part of the notched bit it has, the grey pedal then springs up taking the red pedal with it. Same when you push it down to stand it up and lock it

Oh you had to started now this will bug me all night    just had a look and it looks like one of the spring that is attached to red pedal in your pic 36/37, now just need to figure out how to get that in there

you cam get away with just taking the red pedal off,  undo the 2 correct screws and pop the ends out,  then pull the wheels back as far as they will go (near vertical with the back of the machine)  and the red pedal shoild slide out,  I did this with a dc24 the other week, their vaguley similar  machines...

Well I decided to strip and clean everything, all back together now is well  , refitted the pedal spring now just need to get the brushbar sorted.

I did find on ebay complete unit at £40 anyone had experience with them? looks a bit waste just paying £30 for motor when you can get original head for extra £10, but I notice there is 2 different part number some are listed and ending with -01 and the other -08 number

i dont know about the part numbers, but yes, sometimes you have to weigh up if the extra tenner for a new shiney housing is worth it, and it will be simpler than fitting new internals to an existing case!

The parts could be the dame, and Dyson just changed the part numbers mid run but I'd wait for someone who knows what they are talking about to comment before splashing the paypal just yet

another update, got the motor running as the neg wire was a bit loose, motor sparks like hell but it turns so that would rule out the PCB for 100%?

Nice result but lucky this didn't blow the pcb 

^THIS! You did get very lucky! Once you notice a section of that copper missing, you know it's toast. or if they're a bluish black.

915499-01 was the original part number, 915499-08 is the superseded part number. The units are the same.

Thanks for info, I went with complete unit as I don't know how old is the PCB and will need new end cap is well.

brushbar fitted and works like dream
