So I found this dc01 and a thing is in mint condition is dirty but perfect and I'm thinking of buying all the new parts i can get my hands no genuine a non genuine to make things look new,so i wondering what motor has more suction the YDK or the amtek.

Ametek has less suction but it is quieter and most DC01's have it so its traditional

YDK ones are found in mainly late DC01's and are louder (higher pitched), sound more like DC04's and groom the carpet better IMHO and have better suction. It's up to you now :)

PS I *think* the YDK ones spin at a faster RPM which probably explains the better brush grooming power, as there is a difference inperformance vs an Ametek DC01 with the same brush from personal experience

The motors are not interchangeable though, you can only replace like with like. You will struggle to find any DC01 motors new anywhere.

I have a new grey/yellow DC01 cyclone unit and bin just in case of use.

It's a pain to convert a Dc01 to use a diff motor, you will need a new motor, new motor housing, bottom housing, both rubbers and the spinal cord because the connections are different to the motor :S
