DYSON DC32 ANIMAL
« on: April 03, 2016, 08:05:49 pm »
Just acquired a DC32 Animal, complete with all accessories, and in pretty clean condition overall, which I will be picking up tomorrow. The owner reckons the motor is on its last legs however. If this proves to be the case, is it likely to be worth my while fitting a new motor? I have no feel at all for the resale value of this particular model. My own feeling is that it would probably be a reasonable seller. All opinions and advice welcomed!

Yes as long as you can get a motor for a good price, not sure if this one has to cooling if so damage can be a problem.

Many thanks for your reply Madrat. Just managed to carry out a very cursory examination. There is no sound from the motor at all, and no indication that power is getting through, which may (or may not...) be a hopeful sign. Before I start delving into unfamiliar territory (never done one of these before), are there any known problems with the power supply I should look out for? I hasten to add that the fuse in the plug is OK! I could never be that lucky......

Cable rewind is the usual suspect if no power getting through.

There are two types fitted to those, I have some new ones with a EU plug on that can be rather cheap if it is the same type. I would need to see a photo of both sides of it though to compare.

Thank you. I'll take some pics later today, and get them posted. I'll also have a look at the rewind as you suggest. Any pitfalls I should look out for?
