That explains a return we had a few weeks ago.

Don't know why Dyson reduced the width of the cleaner heads. The large DC41 head (same width as a DC14/07/33 head) has been reduced by an inch or two which is the same as a DC40 now, even their cinetic big balls oddly. :s

I wonder if thats just in the UK then, Our dc51erp ( dc50erp ) is a Euro sourced machine and it has the same size cleaner head as the none erp version.

I saw a photo of the two different brushrolls side by side. It was less than an inch.

Does the DC50 ERP have the slider on the front?

I have delved and this is right. The normal one is 964705-01 and the ERP one is 966471-01. The non genuine ones are the standard one, not the ERP one. So if you need an ERP one, you need 966471-01.

"The non genuine ones are the standard one, not the ERP one."

I spoke to a gentleman at Q shortly after I'd unknowingly fitted their copy into an ERP, the roller seized up. I think I was polite but made it clear I was very angry.

I made Q aware of the difference as a result of this topic last night. One of the reps showed me a photo of two side by side a few weeks ago and asked could it be right. My reply then was all 50 brushrolls are the same as far as I knew.

Now we know all know different thanks to Autovac. And so do Q.  :icon_nod:

Never have I ever seen a used Dyson with the carbon fibre in good condition, they are so soft they wear out really easily
always liked the DC50 brushroll though because it's big and beats carpets

Today we found out ERP motors and PCB's differ as well. Nobody has stock, so we have to convert it to standard with a motor housing too.  :'(

Hopefully they changed them to more reliable motors
I noticed that the old DC40's has a DC24 brush motor and the ERP ones use the larger DC41 mk2 motors now which I think is worth mentioning speaking of head changes   :icon_nod:
