V6 Absolute advice
« on: April 08, 2016, 08:17:01 pm »
Hi, I buy from auctions usually liquidation or returned goods.

Last week they had the usual DC33 41's etc, but as i'm an idiot, I bought a V6 Absolute.

Again, as i'm an idiot, I bought it blind. I picked it up and the return label says "Returned due to poor quality and lack of suction" I would argue that all of these handhelds left the factory that way. (I used to work in retail and people would return the handhelds all the time, even when the description clearly stated charge time 45 days, running time 3 seconds.)

The good news? It works and I believe all the attachments are there.
the bad news? The middle filter and the post main filter are missing.

The non-powered attachments don't work without the pink tube. I've read the instructions and it never shows the attachments directly connected to the handheld? This is strange?

I was recommended this forum by Beko as we are both members of another forum and as I was spamming his inbox with nonsense I decided to post here instead.  :underchair:

The issue I have is, the middle filter is £9.99 which is fine, the post main filter, I can't find one for less than £40. If I spend the £50 I will barely break even, Beko suggested either sell in bits. Attachments etc, or just throw the lot on Ebay as-is.

p.s.I haven't cleaned it.  :-\

Also,  does it run at all? I say this because the dc16 wont run without the filter in place,  theres a magnet and other electronics involved

It runs by itself, however it only sucks when I block off the top filter. Which makes sense.
There is a button at the back, which I have no idea what it does. I assume it activates when the post filter is in place.

cost? erm, we shall talk when I get rid.

Do they have a post filter?

Edit: yes, it seems so.

Is yours missing?

Maybe the owner was blind eyed and never noticed the poor suction was because of the missing filter? lol

If you were keeping it for yourself I;d say some gaffa tape and don't suck up plaster dust or flour, but that won't work with selling it.

I did look on Q-know-who (big trade supplier some of us have an account with, if I spell it properly the spam filter shortens it - Qtex) and they don't list it. Mvacs are pally with them though so might be able to at least get you a price

The dyson website doesn't even do anything when I input the serial number. 😄

The V8 was just launched this week and I am currently deciding between the V6 and V8 :/  You have a good vacuum right there, the suction is good but the brushbar makes is much better and there's a detailed review on youtube and it included vacuuming a carpet with a Dyson DC33 full sized upright and then with the V6, the V6 got half a bin of cat hair

Don't forget to post the serial number up for Stu's little project, does it do anything here:

If you can get me a part number or a link to whoever is selling them, I'll find them.

And yes, please check if we have the serial number on our tool: https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/serial-lookup

I like to keep it more up to date than Dysons one.  :king:

I also buy from auctions I buy and sell if it's anything like my auctions you paid £30-£70

Break it and sell in bits plenty of value there
