DC40 Rebuild
« on: May 09, 2016, 10:04:41 pm »
Does anyone have a step by step guide to rebuild a DC40 preferably with pics or video. I've stripped mine and replaced the motor. Unfortunately I should have paid more attention to what I was doing as I now have a few bits which I'm assuming are not optional extras  :sick0012:
Any help would be great.

I had to take my DC40 apart like a good 9999999 times to get it right!
So do you have any pics of any bits missing out? I an 99% certain I know where they go

Hi. The three parts I'm left with are in the pic attached. The small white one is the trigger for the microswitch and the larger clear one is is part of the stand Assembly just not sure how they fit.
The small grey bit I have absolutely no idea where it's from or what it does.
Again any help gratefully received.

The black piece on the left goes behind the plastic bit which is for the wiring loom in the yolk assembly (which are the black and white wires)

The middle bit is for the brush upright switch on the left side of the vac inside, it should have a spring for the micro switch

The one on the right goes inside the innse left hand side of the yolk assembly and it's teeth correspond with the holes of where the yolk sits :)

Thanks for that. Will teach me to pay attention. Can I ask one more thing I've attached a pic of the micro switch flip which is not engaging. I'm assuming it's to do with the spring on the back not being in place but I can't  see how else it will fit.
Any help gratefully received again.

Hi the spring should make the little white plastic bit engage the switch when reclined and so try it in different ways and see if that works ;)

The spring should fit up behind that black lug to make it spring back when pressed.

Sorry I don't have one handy to take a photo!

Still not manged to work out how this spring should sit.
The Lug is angle so it won't sit on it. Anyone else help please.
