Oh lovely! I am dying for either a DC17 animal or an Asthma & Allergy one along with a DC28
When you get it would you do a thread? That would be epic
I would love to import a mint DC17 and use it without an annoying transformer
Oh no, my mate imported a DC28 from eBay brand new and came with a transformer, it wasn't suitable and he only got 10 secs use out of it, thinking the brand new machine blew up, but the transformer actually couldn't handle it so a more industrial one is needed
the brushroll housing looks like a duck...
I actually never thought about the dc18 wand being the same. I think they are, and if it fits I say use it!
Have you checked out the cyclone closely yet? These had a bad habit of shifting cyclone seals and completely blocking the entire cyclone system. An updated cylone assembly with improved seal was introduced late in their lifespan and is available as a spare part. Your seal looks like the earlier type, but it appears to be in the correct position. You might have been spared!
The level 3 root cyclone system on the DC17 was quietly redesigned due to a gasket defect that allowed dirt to enter the cylones backward, clogging them and causing the cleaner to lose suction; almost all of the original DC17s had this problem. The redesigned cyclone pack, fitted to later DC17s, resolved this issue. Older DC17s were not recalled, but Dyson gave out and sold many of the redesigned cyclone packs.
Isn't that the same issue that affects dc24s and 25s too when the gasket wears out?
