DC04 Zorbster
« on: May 21, 2016, 03:53:04 pm »
I've just rescued a DC04 Zorbster that a neighbour had put out for the bin.  (will post some pics when i learn how to) Overall it seems to be in decent condition... except the motor is shot.  I am planning to replace the motor but need some advice.  I am not looking to reinstate the zorb part of it, just to have it as a hoover, which brings me to my point.  I have read through the threads on here and believe i can simply replace the motor with a YV2200 YDK motor and just not bother connecting the extra two wires for the TOC.  Am i correct or might i be looking at some sort of disaster if i do that?  Has anyone else done this and is there any pictures anywhere to keep me on track?

Yes, you can do away with the wires to the microswitch on the chassis and fit a standard 04 or 07 motor.

And the photo posting tutorial is >>here<<.

One thing I want to see if it's doable is to wire up a normal ydk onto the zorbster stuff,  doable or should I not bother? Or would ydk internals fit into the zorbster motor case? I have one with shot carbons and comm,  the coil and casing will be fine...

You just swap over the thermal cut out from the Zorbster to the normal motor.
