Hello my Vacuum Cleaner Chums!

How are you? Allow me to introduce my Electrolux Mondo to you!





This came from Freecycle, another lunchtime collection, out Henley on Thames way I think, I got it a while ago now.

It came with 2 of the original tools, and a crevice tool which isn't from it, but is an electrolux tool



The crevice tool doesn't fit in the holder sadly



Unopened genuine box of bags and filters



and a set of filters in an opened bag



I remember these being sold new, and being sad that we were too poor to afford one!

This is the before video, the day I collected it (shot this then went back to work)

Performs like crap, which is good, as there's room for some improvement!

So, months later, when the sun started to peek out of the clouds I grabbed a few beers and got started!

The tool holder splits apart by removing some screws



Like so



Extension wands now, nothing too exciting about these, one has a very deep scratch in it sadly. In the box they went



Onto the floor tool now, which is broken, the locking tabs for the elbow have worn away in places



I took the top cover off



unclipped the pedal



and unclipped the brush



The two little wheels pop out of the bottom chassis

The next thing that happened was bad



Whilst trying to remove the broken part of the head the bottom chassis snapped, which whilst annoying, was not the end of the world, as I was cannibalising an identical head for the already broken part anyway



So, tools apart, time for the main machine



Half full bag removed and binned



Pre motor filters removed



as well as the post motor filter, which looked like it died years ago



The rear control panel unscrews, which also releases the bag door



The power adjuster buttons pop out of the lid



The cover for the power socket sits underneath

It slides out nice and easily



The rear with the top cover off



The bag door is already released by this point



Power switch pedal lifts out



as does the cord rewind pedal



Time to unplug stuff! Neutral wires first



The air pressure tube runs fro mthe bottom of the bag compartment to the pressure switch, as well as another tube that just goes nowhere under the PCB

Another standard Dyson 2 pole switch, alot of cleaners use this style it seems

This screw holds both the bag full light LED and forms the clamp to hold the main LED strip in place

The larger of the 2 air pipes just sits there, not connected to anything

Time to split the main casing now, and 5 of the screws were easy, the 6th is hidden under the handle at the front





The air tubes can be pulled through the bag compartment now

The bag holder clip pulls out of the bag compartment too



Onto the business end now



This seal that joins the bag compartment to the motor intake gubbing sits at the bottom of the chassis



The cord rewind lifts out, and the wires unplug





The motor housing seal lifts off



Motor top mount off



Motor sound deadening off



and out pops the motor

The release valve sits under the cord rewind



And splits down as so



The front wheel pops off quite easily



However the rear wheels do not, and through fear of snapping a lug off and scrapping the machine I left it well alone!





The fancase on the motor was a bit smeggy though, possibly not helped by me putting it down on damp grass...



The fan was nice and clean though



The motor is dated June 2000, which sounds about right. Blimey, 16 years old already! Giggidy...



And she is apart! It was all washed, dried and polished as usual, and then re-assembled!

I rubbered up the motor



and fitted it, the sound deadening and the motor housing seal

Cord rewind plugged in and dropped in



Next is to fit the little air tubes to the back of the bag housing



and then fit the bag housing to the lower chassis



PCB is dropped on, and the LED's fitted and screwed down

Before fitting the power switch pedal, I put a drop of grease on the mating faces, as the 'down' action pushes the switch back, and is a bit clunky in operation as you can see in the before video!



Both pedals dropped in over their springs



The bag door is placed over the chassis



and the back panel placed over that, which secures the bag door in place



Nice new post motor filter fitted



and the cover clipped down

and fitted a nice fresh bag

I now have an open box of bags...



and a completed main machine!



Floor tool now, and this is a different chassis and elbow to the original one

as well as the pedal



I then forgot to take a picture of the top cover going on, but I'm sure you'll get the idea!

I managed to pick up an instruction manual for it from ebay too the day I collected it, so it's even more complete now!

Would you happen to know if this one was made in Sweden? Just today I picked up a Eureka (Electrolux) "Europa" which looks like it must have come out of the same factory. It has a similar look, switches, and looks like it might take the same bag. It was made in Sweden.
Of course, being american it also has a powerhead

No idea tbh,  ill have a look at the ratings plate and see.  Theres no UK warrant,  so I don't think it's from Luton
