DC07 NOISY AFTER SWITCHING OFF!
« on: June 07, 2016, 08:19:58 am »
Just picked up a couple of very clean DC07s for nothing - happy days. However, one of these is displaying a strange fault. The motor runs well (although accompanied by a slight burning smell), and the cleaner picks up dust well. On switching off, there is a loud, rough clattering noise, which goes on for about 20 seconds after all power has been disconnected. I haven't had the chance to strip the cleaner yet, and suspect that I may be looking at a new motor. Has anyone else come across this? It just seems very odd that this happens when the vac has been completely isolated from the mains!

Knackered fan and/or bearings - it wants a motor.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions folks. Sounds like a b****y tank regiment going through the living room! Will definitely be buying some motors from MVacs very shortly; I now have 9 Dysons requiring new motors before they move on!

I can do the proper KK ones in 10s at right money in case of need at the moment.

Many thanks for letting me know. A batch of 10 would be ideal at the moment, as I'm under increasing pressure from the wife to move the Dysons on! Could you possible drop me a PM with details of cost, etc.? I have a mixture of clutched and non-clutch models.

Could also be the clutch, mine used to do that until I oiled the clucth bearings and it stopped.
