DC24 main motor arcing and noisy run down
« on: June 24, 2016, 06:23:57 pm »
Hi,
I have a DC24 that is mostly on good condition but it seems to make strange noises after switching off and the main motor spins down. I notice that if I turn it on the HEPA filter removed I can see quite a significant spark at the brushes as it starts up and quite a lot of sparks at the brushes as it runs. I don't have another here to compare it with.

It is not that noisy when running but makes quite a howl as it spins down. Is it worth (possible) to replace the carbon brushes or do I just get a new motor?

You need a new motor, replacing the brushes is a waist of time and money.
