Dyson V6 Start-Stop
« on: June 22, 2016, 07:17:04 pm »
Hi

I have  a Dyson V6 which is causing me problems. Today it worked fine for 10 or 15 minutes, then it would only run for a few seconds. I charged the battery and tried again, but it would still only work for a second or two. There was a constant blue light on the battery, and a blue light flashed two or three times on the Turbo button. It has done this before with a different battery.

As I understand it, the steady blue light on the battery means it is charged, but the flashing light on the turbo button either means low power, or some other unspecified problem.

I've cleaned the machine thoroughly, and only stopped short of dismantling the cyclone, but the problem is still there.

I wonder if anyone had come across a similar problem before.

Thanks.

This post has had a lot of views, but no suggested solutions. Not surprising, I suppose, in view of what I discovered was the real problem. I could hide my stupidity, but perhaps it's better to be honest.

After trying a different battery, and a different motor body, I realised the problem was actually the charger, as the blue light on the battery would sometimes go out if I moved the cable.  So the problem was that when the light went out I thought the battery was fully charged, but the Dyson was correctly telling me that it was only partly charged, or, in fact, hardly charged at all. A new charger has solved the problem.

Amazing how easy it is to forget you should always check the basic things first.
