DC39 Animal - how do you remove the hepa filter

Reading the article from Dyson Tech (thanks and very helpful) I'm finding it very difficult to remove the Hepa filter and also separate the filter from the side ball.
As you can see from the description, I'm a noob and needs some help.
How do you detach the old Hepa filter without damaging the unit?
If anyone has pics, would really appreciate it.

From what I remember, the filter and motor housing are as one, then once out they seperate.
Look in the cylinder section at my stripdown thread, see if that sheds any light on it

Thanks.
Yes, I've seen and read up on all the threads on taking apart the animal but i just can't seem to dislodge the old filter from the housing. When back home, i'll send a pic to show all.

If you mean the outer shell of the machine, have you pushed the 2 locking tabs in that sit under the side wheels on either side of the outer casing?

Yes, already read this article :)
I'm trying to remove the Hepa filter as I've bought new one to replace the slightly dirty one.
I just seem to find what I need to do to remove the hepa filter from what it's attached too

I always thought it was glued, I certainly found no way of removing it from the plastic housing that sits on top. Do you have just the filter, or the filter attached to the housing that the cord rewind etc clips on to?

Like here, I could get the cord reel off the housing, but the plug would need to be snipped off and a new one wired on to get it out (or undo the cord from the reel but I REALLY would not recommend doing that), unless I missed something when taking it apart, but I don't think I did
Is how it looked from inside, and the filter ring seemed fixed to the top part. Does your filter have all this or is it just the white filter part? Where did you buy it from? Mvacs, do you have any in stock/can you see if the dyson replacement is just the filter, or the whole assembly?
A quick look on the Manchestervacs shop shows it comes with the whole housing, and that maybe there is a way to get the ring where the cord goes through off, as the replacement part has the part that receives it, you may have to carefully pry stuff with a screwdriver to see if it pops off.
So you need to have the whole lot out, take the motor housing out, remove the cord reel (twist the reel assembly and it unlocks from the center part IIRC), find a way of getting the cable guide off, and rebuild.
What was wrong with your old filter may I ask? Mine was pretty grubby but ultimately fine. Have you used it for DIY?

Ah it does!
Reading this
https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,1904.0.html
shows it laying on the side away from the filter housing
Stu, any hints on getting it off?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm trying to find out how to do. Take the motor and filter apart like shown in the picture.

Well I wrote a step by step how to guide here
https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,2313.0.html
Which covers it when I get to that stage
and there is a 'motor change' tutorial here
https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,1218.0.html
which covers it as well
Good luck!

Cracked it!..not the hoover.
Used a bit of f'ing and blinding and managed to snap off the old filter and casing. Luckily the new one comes with all in.
Popped in new filter and had fun with the winder of the cable as some parts internally decided to come off and become a right bar-steward to go back in again.
All in all, managed to get everything back in and hoover works... even ended up with one screw that I can't find out where it goes

Excellent! One screw will be fine, you won't miss it!
What was wrong with the old one out of interest? Carboned up or plaster dust?
