So we met Vincenzo (who some of you will know from Vacland and Facebook) today in our shop. I expressed an interest in knowing more about Vorwerk generally, and as he wasn't far away, he came in. He brought a Kobold VK200 for us to have a look at and gave us a demo.

Our chief tester also had a play.

They seem a very capable machine, with many useful attachments (especially the head that mops and vacs at the same time). I am less impressed with the price tag personally, though.

I gather they have circa 45% market share in Italy, which isnt so far off Dyson's market share in the UK.

Anyone any experience of them? Anyone bought one? If so, do you consider them value for money?

I've only ever had one, and it was years and years ago so have limited memory of it. It was an old model, but quite good.

Their like Kirbys I think, very good, but eye wateringly expensive

Like Sam, I only have one very old model. It's a good machine, but so different from the new ones I wouldn't know where to begin.

I think shortly after my one was sold they pulled out of the U.S

I agree with Sam also about their similarities with kirby's.

I don't know for sure, but I assume they didn't sell very well. Their high price plus the large number of premium vacuums available in the U.S probably put a lot of pressure on vorwerk. Not to mention their size and build materials back then, being small and mostly plastic was probably not what Americans expected of a very high end vacuum. I *think* there was one model after mine that was sold before they dropped out, likely around the early 80's.

I see almost no vorwerks, and only saw two my entire five years working at the local vacuum repair shop, I ended up owning both of said machines (although one was trashed). And they hardly ever show up elsewhere, those two were the only ones I've seen in Texas. I have heard from another collector that they had a larger presence in Florida.

I'd like one myself to text and review but as said the price tags are eye watering!

The ibaisaic has had one I'm sure of it.

He bought a load of tools for one didn't he, but no machine AFAIK, although I wouldn't be surprised if he has one by now!

I would be interested in seeing the new one, The previous generations from the 132 to the last model were rubbish. They were full of faults. the neck on the floor tool could not support the weight of the vacuum itself, They constantly break, for a premium product I was less than thrilled. We became agents when the local agents pulled out of Cape Town. I was always impressed with the previous models , vk 117 to vk122 . they were and still are indestructible. many still been used to this day If you want to see a angry customer tell a customer of a vk117 that they cannot get a brush bar for their 39 year old vacuum and they loose it.
I dropped the official agency when I was tried of taking flack from customers over their newer models, 135 been the worst and the 140 was a joke.

They wanted me to sell the 140, At the time it was twice the price of a new dc14 ( 5 years ago )
for that price you only got the vacuum , no attachments. If you added the attachments then you were looking at 3 times the price of a dc14 and it only had a 1 year guarantee to the 5 years on dyson, Not to mention that when you use the hose you must completely disassemble the machine and you have to carry it around.

I see its still the same with the current model, Given the choice between this and a sebo x 4 or Felix I would go for the sebo just because of the ease of use.

Pricing of spares is also nuts
