Thanks for your helpful replies.

I have just been watching a film about crimping as I didnt understand what that was and I wouldnt be able to do that because I dont have the gadget.

Ideally I would just like to get Dyson "A" up and running - thanks a lot.

Crimping is just getting a female spade connector and clamping the bottom smaller end to the copper wires with a pair pf pliers.

Alternatively you could solder. Hope you get the Dyson running! If you ever need any help with a vacuum in the future you know where we are ;)

You just need to do this to the cable (part way down the page)

Thought I would update you on my Dysons, A, B and C.

A - I mended the cable and it is up and running but the Dyson is coated inside with white powder (Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth) which I have scattered over my carpet because I have had a problem with moths.

B - is in the shed.  I got this Dyson because I broke the wand on A.  So whilst A was glued and setting well, I would use the wand from B.  But I eventually broke the wand on B so I put the wand back in from A and glued B.  (I have just broken the wand on A again so it is glued at the moment).

C - the fault was the wire same as A, so that is fixed now and working.  I am using C to hoover normally, not hoovering white powder up with it so it is clear.  But I noticed the other day that the silver pole that is part of the wand, was sitting in a way that it was jutting out at the bottom through the black rubber door.  I didnt know if that was good or bad.  Then it was right loose and became unconnected and I have glued it back in.  But today popped the wand back in and it is still sticking out at the bottom through the black rubber door, but not quite as much as before I glued it.

I have just laid the 2 wands that are glued side by side and the silver pole is jutting out nearly an inch longer than the other one.  When I glued the pole in, I could only place it in as far as it would sit so I cannot understand why it is longer.  Or is one end slimmer than the other and can go in further and I have glued the wrong end?

Also, what easy way can I clear my favourite best Dyson A, from the white powder that is clinging to areas of the Dyson - I dont want to dismantle it, I probably would never get it back together again.

Maybe eventually I shall have to buy a new wand - where is the best place to get one, not bothered about a new one.

Thanks in advance of any help.

We have new and used: https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC01-wand-handle

Have any of your wands got a white collar on the end of the pole? If so, they are early DA001 versions and the wands slightly differ in length to standard DC01s.

Thanks for your reply, I shall bear it in mind about the wand.

Will Dyson C perform any differently because the silver pole is sticking out down at the bottom and poking through the rubber door?

Thanks a lot.

I know its late -
Your problem with the wand on C shouldn't be any issue because of the way the rubber access valve works - it just means you still don't have any suction at wand until you remove it.
Personally i'd lob a motor in B and have that as good as possible working condition since they are getting rare
A - I would keep as you are - for the dirty jobs
