Dyson DC07 post motor filter on dyson dc04

Hi all,
Can I put a hepa post motor filter from a Dyson DC07 into a Dyson DC04 pre motor filter spot - they both look like the same filter housing thing just a diffrent colour - cant test for myself yet

They are different filters designed to do different things. Probably a great way to blow your machine up.

How would it blow it up? Is one denser than the other?

Yes, a HEPA in a pre-filter slot would clog up in no time followed by a familiar bubbling noise and burning smell..........

We have had a few in where people have inadvertently done that.

Hmm, I've cut up old sofa cushions to use as filters before, never had any issues, also used a car air filter for a while lol.

foam filter is a foam filter but a HEPA is completely different.

There's no point in the pre filter being a HEPA as the HEPA is designed to capture miscoscopic particles for cleaner air. The motor produces carbon dust so it makes more sense for the HEPA to be after the motor  rather than as a pre filter.
