DC04 motor housing
« on: August 27, 2016, 04:19:57 pm »
I am currently refurbing a yellow DC04  and have stripped it down to the motor, when I removed the motor I found the 2 tabs still inside the rubber locating ring and I am assuming that I have snapped them off when removing the motor from the housing (its been a while since I did one) is that the housing knackered or can I use it again? also the motor retaining ring has one of the tabs broken as well but I noticed this as I stripped it down could this be used again or is it better to replace?
DC04 and DC07's for me and the occasional DC14.

You can reuse the ring with a tab snapped, but with the locating lugs snapped it gives the possibility of the motor twisting in its housing. We tend to replace ones with snapped lugs.

Others may have different opinions?

Thanks for your reply, I found a spare motor housing that had good tabs on it so I'll use that one and I will use the ring with the snapped lug  ;)
