Update

I just fitted a dc25 motor and that's it, given the pcb a dry and brush off
Assembly was easier than expected
It works great! Just left out
A seal so there's less suction at the hose but it works brill
Gonna put it on auction on eBay when I'm bored of it cos it isn't the best condition model

Stellar work here, I never would've thought to put a DC25 BB motor in a DC15! Good to know, I'll remember that.

Sorry for any confusion, I fitted the main suction motor from a DC25 into my DC15 ;)
The brushbar motor worked fine so I didn't faff around with that.
