Which Dyson Ball to buy? DC15, DC24 or DC25?
« on: October 01, 2010, 12:48:13 pm »
We are often asked which of the popular ball machines is better; or more correctly, suitable for a particular application.

There are three that we tend to see most often: The DC15, the DC24 and the DC25.

This is the DC15:

The DC15, known as "The Ball" was released in 2005. It has a ball instead of rear wheels, which in conjunction with a universal joint on the cleaner head makes it possible to steer the machine by twisting the handle to the right or left. The cleaner uses the exact same Root Cyclone technology also used in the DC14. Dyson market several "Ball" machines. The DC15 is the full-size model suitable for family homes as opposed to the very small "Ball" models that are more usually seen in stores.

We sell these reconditioned in our shop. You can buy one online here: Reconditioned DC15

This is the DC24:

The DC24, another "Ball" model, is the little brother of the DC15 above, known as the "Baby Ball". It is the ultra-lightweight Dyson, weighing in at a mere 5.4 kilos (That's less than 12 pounds if you think in imperial), and has 115 airwatts of suction power. It was designed for people who live in small apartments/houses in that its small, compact, and the handle slides down into the machine for easy storage. You can see from the pictures above just how compact and light the Dyson DC24 is. This model is not particularly suitable for those who have big houses, kids, cats and dogs (you guys want one of the other models really). It is aimed at the single or couple household really.

We sell these reconditioned in our shop. You can buy one online here: Reconditioned DC24

This is the DC25:

These are between the size of the DC15 and the DC24. They are suitable for most applications and are the best selling Ball machine.

We do also have several reconditioned DC25's in our shop at the time of writing which are priced at £175 each. Anyone considering travelling down to collect one or who wants to order one online should contact us first to check availability. As these are a newer model, we do not *always* have them. Demand is quite high for them.

You forgot the dc18 ;D , we have many of these here as well as dc25's . The dc25 was the first ball model I saw and worked on. We sell them fast here in SA We also sell allot of refurbished dc18 models , I have a dc 18 and a dc14 in my home.
Up until Tuesday i had never seen the dc15 as they were not sold here but finally a customer brought a rather battered animal model in.
I found it a little bit clumsy compared to the dc25 I am used to( we use one in our shop) but I think it is because I am used to the new improved model ( dc25) I did like the bin capacity though.

You forgot the dc18 ;D ,

There are not so many DC18's in the UK -- they were never a terribly popular model here. We probably see one a month for service and/or the usual undercarriage problem they suffer from. We don't go out of our way to supply them because of that design fault they had.
We expect that by seeking advice here, you are competent enough to be able to make any electrical installations safely and in a safe and legal manner in your jurisdiction. If you are in any doubt whatsoever, do consult an electrician. You implement any advice you read at this site at your own risk.

Wow undercarriage problem? My dc18 has been daily driver for 6? years. Never a problem, ever. Almost perfect for me.
