Dyson DC55 Undercarriage
« on: October 13, 2016, 12:07:26 am »
Okay then, today I had a gentleman bring to me a Dyson DC55 with the rear wheel carrier snapped off. At first glance the ball and wheel assembly look strikingly like a DC18. After searching my usual resources on the net I didn't track down any spares or complete undercarriage assemblies for this model. My last port of call was the lovely and ever so helpful Claire at Manchester Vacs who usually has the parts that I need or can point me in the right direction. However, even Claire couldn't track the part down for the DC55.

When I looked on the Dyson website there didn't appear to be any spares available for this machine. I asked chap were he bought the cleaner and it turns out it was from Currys.

Is this model exclusive to Currys? And does it share any main components from other Dyson models?

Thanks in advance
Chris

The DC55 isn't a Curry's exclusive.

As I was aware, the rear wheel set up is the same as a DC41. Perhaps someone else could confirm?

Hi, the DC55 is basically a DC41 Mk2 but in red and comes with extra tools.  By stating 'rear wheel carrier' I presume you mean the stabilizer?

In order to replace this, you will need to take it apart and this includes removing the yolk assembly, in which there is a tutorial for replacing/stripping that part of and you can access things like the stabilizer. I have taken a DC41 apart so if you have any questions feel free to ask ;)

However, even Claire couldn't track the part down for the DC55.

Service on obscure questions is marginally reduced when I am away; and right now I am in China.

The machine is basically a DC41 as mentioned. DC41 parts should fit.
