The Dyson DC28c Cylinder
« on: October 13, 2016, 02:57:03 PM »
Hi I came across a cheap Dyson DC28C on Ebay and it is not working but he does not know what the problem is. Could it be an easy fix.

Thanks

Worst case scenario is a blown motor, check the fuse though (although they hardly ever blow on Dysons). Could be the cable where it enters the machine from all the tugging as well. If it's not working, *maybe* it's overheated and they assumed it died
DC14s are tanks, just need a slightly longer motor life. Do plastic parts often break on DC14s? Nope. DC41- Sexy looking futuristic and powerful machine. Just needs a better designed cleaner head wheel and cyclone clip along with a dense metal rod in the chassis.

Usually they sucked plaster dust/fire ash/shake and vac up it and it blows the motor.

Oh okay then thanks for both or your ideas.

This is what he sent me when I asked about the DC28C

"It doesn't turn on (according to my wife, I haven't checked)"

I do not think he could even be bothered to check then, don't think he used it to clean up either. :)

Hi Dyson fans re the Dyson DC28c is this ball cylinder machine similar to the Dyson DC39 ball cylinder, do they take the same tools, is the suction power approx the same, do the use the same filters and other parts ?

As far as I am aware they are one and the same machine.

I see that some Dyson DC 28c and DC39 cleaners have motors rated at 750w and I think its the earlier ones had motors rated at 1300w, does this make any difference to performance or suction strength ?

I had a pleasure to use this machine, and must say that it was a bit disappointing. Suction was good but it wasn't really moving easily on the carpet.
The worst was emptying though. The bin seems to be made of a really cheap quality plastic, you could basically easily bend it and you've got the littlest handle to hold it while opening.
I find Big Balls bin much better and much easier to empty, those machines seem to be much better in my opinion
