Dyson DC01 Design

I have two questions here:

I've heard the 14 motor life mentioned a few times - what fails with them?  My own is 8 years old....

Also, what is the general issue with the 33?  I just fixed one up for my brother in law.  It seemed similar enough to the 14 to not be an issue?

We have no problems with either. Fitting decent motors is the key. Many here like the £10 eBay ones and you get what you pay for. 

Understand that.  I'd rather pay a bit more and buy one that will deliver the greatest suction, whichever that may be.  All the legit motors I've seen hover around $75, so +/-  $10 isn't going to make much of a difference to me.  But, that's another problem for another day.  I have 3 backup vacuums so there would be no rush, even if it dies tonight

That would logical.  We have half the voltage, except for our washers, dryers, HVAC, ovens, water heaters...

The tank of the dyson is the 04, 14,27,33 all use the same motor and are all just as strong. The only difference is the 33s plastic wand but its very robust once you are used to it.

My neighbour (probably) hates their DC33. They had it from new and had loads of issues within the 5 year period:

Blown motor within a few weeks
Keeps getting it's filters dirty after like a month or so
Clutch wore out
The wand keeps breaking (first time the red end came off as they are glued- new wand under warranty. Second wand lost a plastic ring which  made the wand leak suction without it)
Hose ripped- DC33s have crap hoses
Snapped chassis- seen loads of them break in the same area just above the duct, but under the switch housing. This is the stupid flex. the DC41 flexes less in the wand area and the chassis area when using it as an upright.

So, anyone reckon a DC14 is good for them? I know the clutches are the same but still...  qtex belts and that init

The DC33 isn't too bad, they just vacuum fast and are rough on their machines. They just need something more robust. The performance of the 33 was fine..

Also:

When you vacuum fast, the pushes and pulls against the chassis are all there, the top part just flexes. And the same happens when people lift their Dyson from the back (in use) to put it onto a rug or something for example.

Oh and I'm also not a DC27 fan either, esp when refurbing them it's just the parts are forced to fit into place! Their brushbars are also softer than a normal clutched Dyson for some reason.

The DC04/07/14 are lovely though.
