I'd go for an upright too tbh, it'll clean the carpets better, although would one with brush control be something you would like? The Sebo will clean the laminate OK, but may scatter bits about. Unless you can sweep the main part into a pile and suck it up, then go round with the tools on the edges. Depends how big the rooms are I suppose.
RE the DC08, which handle part is it? The hose end handle or the handle you pick the machine up with? It's probably not worth spending out on a new turbo head at full price, but check ebay for second hand bargains etc. Or, buy a shiny new toy, wash the filters in the washing machine and keep it for the cars or above floor cleaning etc.
You probably will be better with an upright though, the dyson turbo heads are not renowned for their deep cleaning abilities!
