Could you remove the hose and then place the wand inside to see if the end of the wand stick out the bottom of the hose? Also, remove the handle at the back of the vacuum with the black clip and then slot the wand into it. Does it slot in nicely?

Does it slot in nicely? When I remove the top of the handle it fits in but the handle won't clip back on as its too far from the clip due to the hose. The hose needs to be in before the wand can go down as otherwise the locating grooves on the wand won't go into the slots on the handle, so the wand is not all the way down anyway when the hose is being pushed down

I have unclipped the hose from the back of the stain using the red clip at the bottom. I was unable to detach the plastic housing at the top of the hose from the actual hose as the black clips were too tight. The top of he handle on the body of the Hoover I clips, and when I unclip this the hose will sit at right in he Hoover by then I can't fit the handle back on
