Airflow in Dysons and their performance
« on: December 30, 2016, 06:15:32 am »
Has anyone ever noticed that a clutched DC14 seems to somehow clean better than a clutched DC07? They have similar suction (with the DC07 having *slightly* more suction actually, so it should surely clean better, right?)

I believe it's because of the airflow. Sealed suction may seem like it's doing okay, but airflow is really what's needed. The DC07 doesn't have this, but a DC14's bumper is slightly more stuck out.

This is due to a large debris channel, so not all of the suction goes to the soleplate, xx% of the suction leaks out the front of the vacuum for larger debris. I'm pretty sure this gives the vacuum better airflow and thus leading to better performance.

Also Dyson turbine heads have half their suction leaking out from the turbine and the other half at the soleplate. They seem to be very goood turbo brushes because of the airflow, anyone agree? Atleast that's my theory  :reading:

I think the wider soleplate openings here on the 07 and 14 make up for this, they both do a simmilar job.

I always thought that it's just better if the suction isn't sealed, there should be some airflow elsewhere around it

'ere Parwaz, not related to this question but...  I swapped my G5 for a Legend II today for a change and I noticed a hell of a difference, I'd forgotten how well the Legend II works compared to the G5. My G5 has a new fan so it should suck like a crazy chicken but my Legend pulls the carpet up like a crazier Llama! I love my trusty old Legend lol.

Nice one!

I love the legend 2, hate the colour so am getting a Heritage 2 with a broken fan to swap over the coloured bits or just to swap the fan as I have  perfectly working legend 2 which is a bit battered physically

The colour scheme of the Heritage 2 is nice IMHO, brilliant vacuum. The cleaner head is really wide too!

I like the all black look of the Heritage II also, I almost got that down instead of the Legend but I decided I liked the old Legend :)
