Fitted or molded plugs?

It's not law to have a molded plug fitted just a fitted plug that is up to current standards.

Manufacturers put molded plug cables on as it is quicker and cheaper than using screw plugs.

The Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994 which came into force in Feb 1995 states the requirement is only that a plug that meets the relevant standard is fitted.

I have a bad habbit of collecting diffrent types of moulded plugs, I got a Dyson one etc. but ones I dont like get either cut off and replaced, If its a cable i need, or thrown away if I have tonnes to the thousand cable

Isn't it the law a U.K plug MUST have a fuse fitted, Becuase a lot of samsung phones we have dont have a fuse fitted in the plug, same for the RaspberryPi power lead's etc.
Apple is the only brand ive seen to put a fuse in a charger

Chargers don't usually need a fuse because the will have a fusible resistor in the circuit board.

I know its only a fitted plug not moulded but I'm sure the legislation was before the 90s

Thanks for clearing that up. The earlier regs were in 1987 - The Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1987

I haven't had a look through them but would guess it is in there.

That's more like it, I was 14 then.

The reason I was asking is I got 4 boxes of new old stock Christmas lights, all sealed and with no plugs so was just trying to date the roughly.
