A Hoover 2944 I picked up today.
« on: January 18, 2017, 06:54:54 pm »
A £20 junk shop find today.

It came with tools, instructions and even a packet of Hoover bags with the price still on: 18p.  ;D

It works a treat, the floor head looks as if it has never been used. The rest of the machine is complete and in superb order.

I dont know much about these, so can anyone advise on dates of production, general info, history, vague values, etc?

The Hooverette. Introduced in the early 60s and withdrawn by the late 60s early 70s not very good performance and didn't sell that well. also available in red and cream.

Very nice! I 've had mine for years, and have one for parts in the shed too that I was given.

That's the more common colour though. I have the full service manual scans for that, and a 'how it works' picture, I'll pop them on my blog and put the link up.

A quick shufty of the service manual says that the Porcelain Blue model ran from July 1961 to March 1965. Sadly this era of machine is not dateable from the serial number.

Does it have the plastic hard floor plate for the floor tool? And the shoulder strap? both very rare to have!

Very clean! Can't see the floortool floor buffing pad though. Never seen one of those before!

Oh, and in the first post you have it assembled wrong... Floor tool goes into the machine, then extension tube, then handle... Didn't you read the manual? Tut tut

Humorous vs video with this and whatever spanker new handheld dyson you have lying about?
