DC15 animal. Making load noise and heating up.
« on: January 28, 2017, 07:42:45 pm »
Hi.

So I have a DC15 animal. 10 years old never had any major problems.

Today it's making load noise and felt it heating up. I've stripped it down and check motor and bushes. All seems OK.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Can you elaborate on the following things please:

1) Describe the noise
2) Where is the heat coming from?
3) Is it the brush motor or the main motor?

Can you elaborate on the following things please:

1) Describe the noise......

When it starts it sounds like its skipping a little then when I turn it off. It sounds like it metal on metal.

2) Where is the heat coming from?

The main motor.

3) Is it the brush motor or the main motor?

The main motor

Motor bearings. You need a main motor.

Motor bearings. You need a main motor.
....

Thanks.

Only just change the bearing on my washing machine.

Hopefully nothing else fails.

Where is best place to get a new motor?
