OK, I admit this is scraping the barrel for content, but I took the pictures, so will write the thread! I also did this a good whole ago so hopefully I can remember how to explain stuff!
Anyhoo, back last summer, I took these two in as part exhange for a DC04 I think (the Vax Turboforce has been written up already (
https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,2650.0.html
but I've slacked with this
It did have all of its tools, however they did not seem to fit on the machine. A google for the instruction manual confirmed this to be the case, the combi tool doesnt fit on!
The hose routing was interesting
And speaking of the hose, that was the first to come off for washing. Undo this screw here
Remove the hose from here
and here it is on the floor!
And after that nothing happened until I think it was december, where you join us in the front room!
Where the combi tool was split apart
and the wand/handle was removed

The turbo tool was next, it opens up like this to clean it out generally
and the turbine and brushroll lift out properly
The main handle of the machine unscrews with a plastic screw and lifts away. The lower cord hook forms part of this screw/latch arrangement.
If we unscrew the switch housing, we find no wires, but a pushrod type arrangement, very similar to how the Hoover Turbolite works
This blurry over exposed rod sits down the length of the handle, with a spring part way down to provide some springing action
The upper cord hook unscrews
This is the switch side of the mechanism, 2 screws remain, the 2 holes are where the main housing screws go
(I think this is the last refurb thread taken using my old HTC M8, the newer ones have a new phone, hopefully irfanview wont take all the quality out of them on the resize...)
The latch that holds the handle/wand bit on pulls off, and the metal spring pulls out too

The switch side of the actuator mechanism looks like this split down
That is the whole top side of the vacuum done, literally everything is on the lower part of the machine, so we jump straight to the post motor filter
Which was a bit discoloured but perfectly servicable. Things start to get a bit tricky from here though
Winging it a little bit, I removed this cover
which allows access to the belt spindle
Then I took the baseplate off
The little roller wheels pop out
Then out comes the brushroll, which is phenomenally stiff!
It splits apart quite nicely

The next thing I felt that needed to come off is this cover bit
Which unscrews from underneath
And reveals the rod that actuates the pivoting mechanism
Staying on that tangent, I popped this end cap off one end of said rod
then popped the lever off the other end, the little insert needs to come out first
which reveals a screw
and then the knob can be removed
Next, all of the screws holding the back assembly together need to be removed. One of the top parts is seperate, but the whole lot should come out like so
To remove the rod, this suction channel needs to be unscrewed

And on the other end, the rod is screwed against this plastic bush
Once unscrewed it all falls apart
There is a little rubber seal on the suction tube
Back to the brushroll housing, and the belt guard lifts out
On the other side though is this diverter plate, which diverts the suction depending on the pivot of the head
With this piece of plastic doing the diverting, it's keyed and accepts the rod
Because this machine is a bit odd, it has a hard floor setting, but it doesn't stop the brushroll, it pivots/tips the front of the brushroll housing down, where there is a seperate suction channel, and lifts the back of the brushroll housing up, lifting the brushroll off the floor. Quite clever tbh, but one wonders how much effort and money went into designing the system when pretty much every other vax machine just has a button you jab to turn the brushroll motor off...
Anyway, back to the machine, and we need to remove these two pivot retaining rings
Which seperates the last of the base from the middle
These bits of metal provide the friction holding the machine upright

They unscrew and lift out
The front wheels lift through 90 degrees and pull out of the housing
Aha, a ratings plate image
The front wheels strip down some more
And we can move onto the motor housing, which is odd as the first thing to remove are 2 metal hoops holding the top together on either side
Then undo all the screws and it seperates properly
The actual on/off electrical switch sits down here, to reveal it these 2 screws need to be removed
and the front cover comes off
Unplug stuff

Ah, some snippy snippy is needed, although I've never seen these crimps have a little condom on the top of them
Once the neutral is cut, the cable can be pulled out of the housing, and it's all apart
These 3 screws hold the motor housing to the outer casing
The motor looks in good order
There is a seal/rubber bush around the belt spindle end of the housing
For some reason, to get the motor out of the inner housing meant cutting more wires, so as it was all fine I left it and moved onto the cyclone/bin
The top lid hinges out, flick the tabs out to remove
There are some screws in the lid

and the inner part seperates from the outer part
The bleed valve sits in this part
These two screws hold the carry handle on
Next, the cycloney parts pull out of the binney part
And the bottom flap can be removed from the bin
There is a seal that goes around the base of the bin
The flap release catch pops out

The main inlet port is actually screwed together
with a rubber seal between the parts. Dyson must have patented the one piece bin or something
But, with that removed, it's apart! What is it with vax and screws
As usual, everything was washed, dried and polished with cif
And the process of re-assembly begins!
The rubber seal goes into it's slot on the bin
Then the inner cyclone part and inlet port part screw together and sandwich everything in
Flap latch back in
Rubber seal back around the bin

Flap on
and closed
The shroud has it's seal put back
and is popped into the top of the bin.
To re-assemble the carry handle, the bin release latch sits over it's spring and in the receiving hole in the lid
Then the handle can be lowered over and screwed down.
Release valve next
and then the two parts of the lid can be bought and screwed together
Pop the lid back onto the rest of the housing and the bin is done!
Nearly done... forgot the pre motor filter which washed up very well indeed
Now the bin is done

Motor now, and the motor case is rubbered up and lowered onto the outer housing
One fault with this machine was that the mains cable had been pulled out of the machine, possibly because there should be a cord grip here
Not having a cord grip to hand, I improvised with a screw and some cable ties
The switch is wired up and the neutral wires fed through to their termination point
That part was then screwed down
I re-terminated the neutral wires
fitted the condom
then fitted the motor housing together
with the metal staple things

Front wheels back together
and fitted
I fitted the locking tabs
Then fitted the rear chassis part to the motor housing, with a drop of grease on the pivot points
Moving onto the brushroll housing, the suction diverter valve was popped in
Then the suction diverter channel
Belt guard
Next, the pivot rod was fed through the whole lot, and screwed at either end as it was when it was removed
The two parts can be slotted together now, and all screwed down

Then the selector knob can be screwed on
It's at this point you can test the mechanism, and I had it wrong. The housing would pivot, but the suction diverter valve was the wrong way round, so it flipped backwards... All apart, rotate the diverter valve round, back together, and success... Put the other end cap on
then fit the outer trim
Lob the brushroll back together
Then fit it and the belt
Then fit the baseplate and wheels. This shows the two suction paths quite well
Belt spindle cover fitted
Done (this part!)

Fit the post motor filter, with a nice air freshener
Now we need to jump up to the top of the machine, and re-assemble the switch button end of the actuator rod
Put the wand clip onto the housing
Screw some bits together
Pop the upper cord hook on
Then fit the spring for the switch rod from the top
Then the rod
The rod itself mates with the housing inside so will only go one way
Connect the top part to the bottom part with the bottom cord hook and plastic catch thing

Then twist the locking tab to secure
Pop the turbo tool back together
We can fit the bin
Then the handle, extension tube and turbo tool holder and tool
Off comes the bin again to fit the hose (I can see why it was routed like it was now...)
And she is done!
Not the most exciting machine ever, although it has interesting parts. It sold quite quickly too which is nice!
Thank's for reading!
