DC07 Animal REFURB thread W/ Pictures
« on: February 16, 2017, 05:31:28 pm »
Heya guys,
Welcome to my first Refurb thread,
Little info: I don't remove the motor so if you want to remove the motor then find another thread, theres plenty about.
So lets start

Items required:
Dyson DC07
T15 screwdriver
T9 Screwdriver
Electrical tape (Blacks fine)
Spare parts if you break something...
Old rag.
Items optional:
Music.
Diet Cola
Old new paper

Lets start:

Some music to get us into the mood... Chris Moyles anyone?

My tools as stated earlier: T15, T9, Leccy tape, Old rag

Diet Cola - I prefer Zero but since Aldi don't sell em'

Unhook the power line from the cable hook on the rear of the wand (You should know how to do that - You've used it!

Remove the tools: Upholstery, Brush and crevis

Removing the DC04 side valve. You can use these but they do restrict the suction slightly (Actually worked better on my machine since its half dead)

Remove the Pre-Motor filteration sponge - This one is ALWAYS clean, never cleaned it since 6 months ago...

Cyclone removed from the chassis and ready for stripdown later.

Wand extracted from the hose and put aside for strip down.

Hose removed from the machine and poped aside for cleaning.

Opened the flap and removed the bin

Cyclone handle removed from my Cut down '1' Cyclone

Trigger assembly removed and striped

Post motor filter removed, Just replaced it so will be reusing again since its only 6 months old!

Motor diffuser removed- whatever these thingys do!

Soleplate, Brushbar and brushroller housing removed from the head

The DC04 'Yellow and grey' Clutched head removed

Clutch removed, and put aside for new pully and clutch pad since the old ones are worn to death

Now for the wiring... Agh apparently I didn't use spades on the old wiring and just blocked it up!, Time for a flat head run!!! be back in 2 mins

1 Hour later- found the driver. Now for the clutch, Removed the pully and old clutch pad, replaced them with a recycled pully and pad, and since the fan belt has just been replaced thats going to be kept and the same for the clutch belt.

Heads been attached

And the clutch and internal hose fitted.

Motor diffuser re-fitted.

Soleplate and brushroll fitted

Post motor pad been put back in above the motor.

Switch rewired.

Apparently vigorous force breaks switches...

Stole one of my spare DC04 switches, and finally fitted the switch housing, blocks don't fit too well in a space designed for just pure wires... Mabey a slight modification to the chassis and the original cabling route.

Bin release trigger simply drops into place

And the rod simply drops ontop and secures with a standard Dyson T15

Check rods inplace down below and works

Install the wand and hose in the correct position on the rear of the chassis

Pre-Motor filteration sponge fitted

Tools have been located to their correct position

And finally the machine.

Hope you enjoyed reading!

It took me so long to find out how to find the voice that reads stuff for you on this computer I had to go and make a second meal because I got hungry. I finally found it, and it was confused with some of your writing haha.
After eating my hole in the toad I managed to get through the thread, you made good effort for a young scalawag which is good to see. As much as I HATE technology it is good to see it is making people like you do something worth while instead of lazing around like so many teenagers do now days.

Well Done.

What might a T9 screwdriver be used for? I never saw one on any Dyson.

Clutch pully to replace the clutch pad

Should be a T8 or T10 on clutches.

I wondered the same but decided not to point it out in case any offense was caused.

Should be a T8 or T10 on clutches.

Dremmel with a fine cut off wheel would work better.
