120 volt YDK motor
« on: February 20, 2017, 02:46:01 AM »
I just picked up a fairly tidy DC24 for $15 (advertised as bad motor) and it had a YDK motor in it which is actually ok, the post filter was making the usual howling noise leading the owner to believe the motor was going out.

so it looks like the US isn't immune from the YDK disease.
 :snivel:

Going to give her a spa day and clean up the motor.

Still not as bad as UK motors  :icon_nod:
DC14s are tanks, just need a slightly longer motor life. Do plastic parts often break on DC14s? Nope. DC41- Sexy looking futuristic and powerful machine. Just needs a better designed cleaner head wheel and cyclone clip along with a dense metal rod in the chassis.

They are good but have a shorter lifespan compared to Ameteks
